It all starts with a coffee...


Brewbird is a coffee shop, started by the St.Giles Trust, that is staffed by ex-offenders to give them opportunities to find long term work.

We were asked to create a brand and interior that encapsulated their key ethos of “coffee with a conscience” as well as their ongoing aim to “challenge ex-offenders to start afresh by growing their skills and confidence”. The following concept I created used chatty language and typography to communicate this message in a dynamic and engaging way. This project was created at Spencer duBois.

My role on the project

  • Transforming the logo (created by another designer) into a visual system.
  • Creating a bespoke typeface.
  • Developing a tone of voice/writing copy.
  • Designing and mocking up all the different items that showcase how the brand could work.
